Akash is a 10-year old Boy. He lives in a slum area. He has two younger brothers, Chandan, who is 8-years old and Rahul, who is 6-years old. Akash's family condition is not good. His father works for daily wages and his mother goes to work as a house maid. His father is not living with them, because of his relationship with other women. That is why only sometimes he sees his children. Only Akash's mother looks after the three children.

One day his Mother came to the school and told us her husband was not living with them. When he does come to their home, he beats his wife and then goes back. Neither does he provide money for the family's livelihood nor does he pay the house rent. She said while crying, "How can I look after my three sons?" The Children of Hope school took the responsibility for her children's education. Sometimes Akash's mother comes to the school. She never forgets to give thanks to the Children of Hope School.

Akash has produced a beautiful painting which will be used in the "Artwork from the children of the streets and slums of Jaipur" program—see his pictures below. And we have given Akash a new backpack, pen, pencil, eraser, a pair of scissors and a slate. You can see how happy he is to get these precious study materials to help him with his future life.  Akash wants to be a building contractor.

Laxmi and Prachi are two sisters 8 and 7 years old respectively. They have a brother, Bharatraj, 5 years old. They have one more brother who is just 3 years old. Because of illiteracy, after giving birth to the children, their care was very hard and expensive for their parents. Their mother and father used to live in a village. Earnings in the village were too little, so therefore they came to the city to bring up the children. Because of illiteracy their father did not at first get any job; after some time he got a job in a candy making shop. He used the money to give his family food and paid the rent with his earnings. Therefore, he could not send them to school. When their mother and father came to know about Children of Hope School, that the school provides an education to needy children, they found our address and came here. They knew that students get food and books from the school with free study. Now the father of these children no longer worries about their education, and he is very much thankful. After Laxmi, Prachi and Bharatraj got admission to the school, their parents are now very happy that their daughters and son are studying very well.
