Frequently Asked Questions
We are very much a Christian-based organization, and we do tell our students about Christianity and therefore about Jesus, however we do not require any student to participate in any religious activities. We respect the student's beliefs and their family's personal beliefs, and just want to give them a better life. To that end, we teach all Muslim children, Hindu children and Christian children alike. Ultimately, many of our students do become Christians.
Heartwarming! Rewarding! Our students often come from the most dismal of circumstances, but we give them hope. If you watch the video of Diskha at the bottom of our Success Story Page, you will see her doing long division at a whiteboard. To us that seems like a simple thing, but to her it means a world of possibilities. Diksha had no education whatsoever when she came to us.
Yes. As a sponsor you will be able to log onto the student's webpage and send a message to your student. We translate your message for you and show it to your student. We then ask them to reply and they do. You will be thrilled.
Some supporters regularly communicate with the students that they support, while some just want to donate the funds to help a student. Either way the students receive great benefit.
Anywhere you direct? You can specify exactly how we will spend your donation. You can sponsor specific students, or help to purchase much needed supplies and school equipment.
When you make a donation through PayPal you will notice that the PayPal payment windows says, "Donate to Give Back to Humanity". As most of our donations come from the United States, and since Children of Hope School is not a US registered non-profit, we use Give Back to Humanity (a US nonprofit) as a way to send funds to Children of Hope School and provide you with an income tax exemption. If you go to the Give Back to Humanity website you will see that they support Children of Hope School on their homepage, and their founder is on our Board of Advisors.
Once PayPal takes their small percentage, the entire remaining funds get sent directly to Children of Hope School. Give Back to Humanity does not charge us a fee for forwarding your donations.
Not counting our founder Pastor Ravi, we have 4 teachers and one cook, and those are all part-time positions.
We also have a number of volunteers who help with a variety of Events that we hold throughout the year. Members of Pastor Ravi's church can often be seen pitching in to keep the school up and running. It's a lot of work, but the rewards are great.
There are so many children that we would like to help. Pastor Ravi often finds children wandering in the slums. He contacts their mothers, usually, and asks why the child is not in school. The answer usually is money to pay the government school fee. They are thrilled to learn that Children of Hope School does not charge a fee. So, Pastor Ravi ends up enrolling the child with the hope and prayer that some generous person will soon sponsor the new student.
Right now, for the Computer Class, we could use a few low-cost laptops. Another sewing machine would be nice for the Women's Empowerment Project. We need a mixer/grinder and a small refrigerator for the kitchen. And for the school, some metal shelves and a lockable cabinet would be very helpful.
The most important thing we need is enough funding to enroll more students.
We often pray for guidance, and will go wherever our Lord takes us. If we just remain a small school in Jaipur, and only help a few hundred children, then we will consider that a success. But who knows where we will be directed next, and the positive impact that we and our supporters might have on many more children's lives.
For now we are just trying to help one child at a time.
